Not safe, not manifesting.

You have “tried manifesting” a number of times. You have tried all the textbook tools that the manifestation books offer. You did your affirmations, the journaling, the visualisation, the gratitude practise. You took the required action for your manifestation. But it still doesn't seem to happen for you. Or maybe it “almost” happens for you and goes away. You feel things are finally aligning for you but then it begins to drift. When this happens, either you start doubting and blaming yourself or you start thinking that manifestation altogether is a sham. You might start questioning the validity of the process or you might also start feeling that maybe something is wrong with you because manifestation might seem to be working for those around you but not for you. 

Before I tell you anything else, let me validate you. You are not alone in this. 

But let us understand the REAL REASON behind why this might be happening.


Have you ever thought that maybe your mindset is not the problem here? Whenever our manifestations do not work, we are quick to jump to the conclusion that maybe we are negative or that our thought process is not right or that maybe our mindset is flawed. But what if that is not the case? What if it is not about the mindset, at all? What if it's actually about “SAFETY”?


This is the part of manifestation that no one talks about- NERVOUS SYSTEM SAFETY. You cannot attract or rather I would say you cannot “hold” what your body does not feel safe experiencing. Our nervous system is designed to keep us safe. The primary job of your nervous system is to make sure of your safety, and it does so by constantly scanning your internal as well as external environment for what feels familiar. Your nervous system focuses a lot on familiarity. And familiarity for the nervous system equals safety, even if that familiarity is rooted in stress, inconsistency or emotional pain. Your nervous system is essentially the control centre of how you respond to life. It’s always asking one question beneath the surface: Is this safe? When the answer is yes, your body relaxes, opens, and allows. When the answer is no, or even uncertain, it activates protection. This protection can look like anxiety, overthinking, shutting down, pulling away, procrastination, or even self-sabotage. And the important thing to understand is that this response is not conscious. It’s not something you’re choosing. It’s something your body has learned over time.


Let us understand this with an example. Suppose or imagine you’ve always lived in a structured, controlled environment where stepping out alone wasn’t encouraged, or where safety was constantly emphasised in a way that made the world feel unpredictable. Now, as an adult, you decide you want to take a solo trip. Mentally, you’re excited. You’ve thought about it, planned it, maybe even dreamed about the freedom it would bring. But as the moment gets closer, something shifts. You start feeling anxious, you overthink every detail, you consider cancelling, or you suddenly feel like it’s “too much.” If your brain is conditioned to believe that stepping out alone is unsafe, that is what your nervous system believes. When you try manifesting a solo trip, either of these things happen. One, it could happen that because of the conditioning and the feeling of being unsafe doesn't let the manifestation come true. Or two, it might happen that maybe you end up manifesting it when you actually do go on a solo trip, you constantly feel scared, alarmed and unsafe which won't really be something you wanted. 


What you often call a “block” is actually protection. Your system is not trying to keep you stuck; it’s trying to keep you safe based on what it has learned. It doesn’t differentiate between past and present in the way your conscious mind does. So if something feels unfamiliar, even if it’s something you deeply desire, it can trigger the same protective responses as something unsafe. 

This is also why you may find yourself “almost” manifesting what you want. You get close. Things begin to align. But there’s still a part of you that feels tense, guarded, or unsure. A part of you that is waiting for something to go wrong. And until that part feels safe, it becomes very difficult to fully receive and sustain what you’re calling in. 


True manifestation is not just about mindset; it’s about safety in the body. It’s about creating an internal environment where your nervous system no longer perceives your desires as a threat. When your body feels safe, you don’t have to force, chase, or convince yourself. You naturally allow it. You stay. You receive. You hold. So if manifestation hasn’t been working the way you expected, maybe it’s not because you’re doing it wrong. Maybe your body is still learning that it’s safe to have what you desire. Maybe it’s still catching up to the life you’re trying to create.

You’re not bad at manifesting. You’re just learning how to receive. And that’s a very different journey, one that requires patience, compassion, and a deeper understanding of yourself.


Before I end, let me give you another example. Let's have a conversation about money and abundance. If you’ve experienced financial stress, instability, or a constant fear of loss, your system may be wired to expect struggle. So, when opportunities for ease, growth, or financial expansion show up, there can be an underlying tension in your body. You might delay decisions, doubt yourself, undercharge, or unconsciously create situations where money slips away. Again, not because you’re incapable of holding abundance, but because your body associates it with uncertainty or potential loss.
